Troubleshooting the connection between Aero App and ADS

Troubleshooting the connection between Aero App and ADS

There are two ways for a user to connect Aero App to an Aero Data Server (ADS). First, if the user knows the ADS IP address and Port number, they can connect directly to that specific ADS. Second, the user can tap the “Discover” button to display ADS that are available on the network.

Troubleshooting

  1. Confirm your Aero Data Server (ADS) has met all software and hardware requirements in the Aero Data Server (ADS) User Manual. Be sure to review the User Manual relevant to your operating system and version of ADS.
  2. Confirm the device running Aero App is connected to the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network as the computer hosting your ADS.
  3. Confirm that ADS is actively running on the host computer.
    • Users can manage ADS by right clicking on the ADS icon, located on the desktop taskbar.
    • Test stopping and starting ADS.
  4. Confirm the Port numbers assigned to ADS are available.
    • Test by changing the port numbers.
  5. Check with your IT administrator, if the firewall is blocking the connection.
  6. Restart Aero App.
    • Exit and Open the application.
  7. Restart the device running Aero App.
  8. Restart the computer hosting ADS.
  9. Confirm you are up-to-date with the latest version of Aero App and/or ADS.
  10. Uninstall and Reinstall Aero App and/or ADS.
  11. Install ADS on a different computer.
  12. Connect the computer hosting ADS to a different network.
  13. If these troubleshooting steps did not resolve the issue, confirm what your system requirements are with an IT administrator or EFB manager.
    • Do your system requirements allow devices to connect with each other on the network?
    • Is the firewall blocking the connection? Check with your IT administrator.
  14. Both Aero App and ADS need to be connected on the same network in order to communicate. If this is not possible, seek alternative methods of getting data such as Mobile Device Management (MDM), downloading from AWS or sideloading.
